I have been looking round the 1901 census for Percy George Whitlock who would have been 4 years old if his age in 1917 is correct at 20.

The only Percy Whitlock to be found aged 4 is a Percy Albert Whitlock.

I looked at the 1901 census for Gt James street, Holborn
RG13/246 folios 36-37, & 22-25 paricularly at no 29 but there was no sign of Davis or Whitlock thoughout the whole steet. It is quite possible that the name Davis is from a 2nd marriage & E W the initials of the husband.
