"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty north of St. Quentin on 29 Sept. 1918. He personally deployed his tanks and directed them to their objectives. It was largely due to his personal gallantry and efforts that the tank attack was successfully launched and obtained such excellent results. He has fought his battalion in previous actions and during the operations in question with conspicuous success."
