At the funeral of Lady Oakeley, which took place on Monday, at Frittenden, Kent, the chief mourner was Sir Charles Oakeley, who was followed by his sons, Mr Oakeley, Mr Edward F. Oakeley, and Mr. Herbert Oakeley. Other mourners were the Honourable Mrs Francis Drummond, Sir Herbert Oakeley, composer of music to the Queen in Scotland, Mr Henry. E. Oakeley, her majesty's chief inspector of schools, and Mrs Henry Oakeley Sir Marteine Lloyd, General Sir Charles Reid, and Colonel and Miss Greene. The service was read by the Reverend T. Hallward, rector of the parish.

He succeeded his father as 4th Bt. in 1845... he was twice married and is succeeded by his eldest son, Charles John Oakeley, who was b. in 1862.
